Door Won’t Open/Close

If your opener doesn’t Open/Close when you send the command via the app, there are a few items that could help you get up and running.

Select the option below that best fits your scenario:

LiftMaster / Chamberlain / CRAFTSMAN / Raynor Opener

Common Cause 1:
System has proprietary control method – no problem!
(Only if motor unit has a Yellow Round 🟡 learn button OR a White Round Learn button ⚪️)

Solution:
We have a free adapter we can send to allow you to control your opener – just go to our Compatibility & Garage Door Adapter page to request an adapter.

Common Cause 2:
The eKyro black/red control wires are in the wrong terminals:

Solution:
Typically, the eKyro control wires go as follows:
eKyro RED → Garage Door RED
eKyro BLACK → Garage Door WHITE

Overhead Door / Genie

Common Cause 1:
The eKyro control Wires are connected to the wrong terminals.

Solution:
Connect the wires to the “BWC” terminals (Button Wall Control).

Common Cause 2:
(Less Common) If the Wall Control button is Black, an adapter will be needed.
If the Wall Control is White/Clear/Yellow – no adapter is needed, check wire placement

Solution 2:
If an adapter is needed (black wall control button), just go to our Compatibility & Garage Door Adapter page to request an adapter.

Garage Door Opener Requires a “Double Press”

Issue:
Some older Genie or Overhead Door openers require a “double press” to open the door – by default the eKyro opener does a single-press to open and close.

Solution:
A very simple Tap-to-Run automation can be built and then added to your App Home Screen. Instructions below:

Double Press Tap-to-Run Automation Steps:
  1. Smart Life -> “Scene” (bottom)
  2. (+) in the top right -> Create Scene
  3. Launch Tap-to-Run
  4. Under the “Then”, use the (+) to create the following scene (the red highlights are important).
    (Set Tap-to-Run as shown below)

Select “Show on Homepage” to have a button setup on the Smart Life home page.

The above Tap-to-Run can be used for both open and close. If the door is shut, it will select the button twice, if the door is open, it will select the button once.
