Alternate Control Methods

The eKyro Smart Garage Door opener can be opened, closed or otherwise controlled through a variety of methods, including, scenes or Tap-to-Run’s.

Using Tap-to-Runs give greater flexibility in what you can do with your eKyro device and allow you to execute a series of events or perform tasks not natively built in.

Google Home Alternate Control Method

The the example below, we will cover how to set up a Tap-to-Run to open the door and execute it with a Google Home device.
Keep in mind this is just an example of what could be done and any Tap-to-Run can be made to perform the tasks desired in a similar way as the instructions will outline.

In Smart Life, Select “Scene” near the bottom of the Home Screen

Select the + Icon and “Launch Tap-to-Run”

Select the (+) next to “Then” and select “Control Single Device”

Select “Save” and Create a Name (You’ll need to remember the name if you have multiple Tap-to-Runs).

Open the Google Home Application

Go to “Automations” and select “Add”

Add the “Starter” of “When I say to Google Assistant”.

Use a phrase other than “Open [Garage Door Name]”
In the example below we used “Open North Garage Door”

If you use the same name as your current garage door, the Google Assistant may not know if it should use the default method (where a PIN is required) or the scene method.

Add the “Action” of “Adjust Home Devices”

Select to “Add Scenes”

Select the Smart Life Scene (Tap-to-Run) you created earlier.

Your Automation will now trigger the “Tap-to-Run”, which will open the garage door.
