Adapter Issues

The eKyro adapter is a device that allows compatibility with systems that cannot be directly connected to. We have adapters to work with:

  • Security+ 1.0 systems (most don’t require an adapter)
  • Security+ 2.0 systems (Yellow round learn button, all require an adpater)
  • Security+ 3.0 systems (White round learn button, all require an adapter)
  • Overhead Door/Genie Series III systems (uncommon)
I Need to Request an Adapter

No problem!

Adapters can be easily requested here: Compatibility & Garage Door Adapter

Adapter Won’t Program

Issue:
You have your opener in the Programming mode (Pressed & Released garage motor “Learn” button) and within 30 seconds you pressed/held the adapter learn button but the garage door did not program to the adapter.

Most Common Causes/Solutions:

  • The garage door programming mode has timed out and you need to press/release the garage door motor “Learn” button again.
  • The adapter battery is dead, open the adapter cover, press the adapter learn button with the soldered wires, does the light come on?
    • If no light, the adapter id defective or the adapter battery is dead. Either try replacing the battery (CR2032) or Contact Us for a replacement adapter.
  • (Less Common) The adapter is a mis-match for your opener motor type – Contact Us to determine if the adapter is the correct model for your opener (send us the garage door motor unit Make and Model and the model of the adapter).
Adapter Programmed, But won’t Open/Close Door

Issue:
The eKyro adapter is connected to the eKyro opener red/black control wires, when trying to open/close you can hear the eKyro opener “click” but the door does not open/close.

Most Common Cause/Solutions:

  • The Terminal is not making good wire contact (check both side of the terminal, all 4 connection points).
    See image below:
    • Note: Ensure you check the 2 wires going from eKyro Controller ↔ Terminal AND Terminal ↔ Adapter
  • The adapter is faulty or solder joint has failed on the circuit board, Contact Us for a replacement.
Adapter Quit Working (was working previously)

Issue:
eKyro Controller and adapter were working well for a period (commonly several years), but are no longer working. The white eKyro controller can be heard “clicking” when trying to execute an open/close.

Most Common Cause/Solution:

  • The eKyro adapters sometimes utilize a wireless transmitter that operates off a CR2032 battery. These batteries are very common and can be replaced quickly by opening the cover, removing the old battery and installing the new battery.
  • The adapter should not need to be reprogrammed after a battery swap.
Adapter Programmed to Multiple Doors

Issue:
The adapter is programmed to your door, but, also opens/closes another door.

Most Common Cause/Solution:

  • An adapter can technically be programmed to multiple doors if they are both in the “Learn” mode (uncommon).
    • To resolve this you will need to clear the remotes from the door you don’t want the adapter connected to. Do this by performing a Learn button press & hold to clear all remotes. Once cleared, add back all the remotes one-by-one by performing a learn button press & release and then within 30 seconds holding the button of the remote you’re wanting to re-add.
All Other Garage Door Remotes Quit Working

Issue:
After the adapter was programmed, all other remotes are no longer connected or can control the door.

Most Common Cause:

  • This is typically caused by performing a press & hold on the learn button instead of just a press & release.
    • Holding the learn button on Chamberlain/LiftMaster/CRAFTSMAN/Raynor and some other openers can cause the door to erase all previously connected remotes (annoying, we agree).

Solution:

  • Fortunately the solution does not take too long.
Just press/release the learn button program button and re-learn each previous remote by pressing/holding the remote button while the opener is in programming mode (typically within 30 seconds of pressing the garage door motor learn button).
    • When the remotes are re-connected the light should flash or garage door opener may “click”.
